A banner appealing for an end to the atrocities on Bangladeshi Hindus was seen around the Statue of Liberty over the Hudson River in New York.

On Friday, a banner with the slogan 'End atrocities on Bangladeshi Hindus' was seen flying around the Statue of Liberty in New York, America. This banner was hoisted by the Hindu American group.

Bangladeshi Hindu Committee member Sitangshu Guha said, “Hindus in Bangladesh are on the verge of extinction. We hope that our efforts will raise awareness and the UN will take action against extremist Islamic forces. If all Hindus are eliminated from Bangladesh, then It will become Afghanistan 2.0. The militants there will start spreading to India and other parts of the world as well.”

Attacks on Hindus have increased in Bangladesh since the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5. According to the reports that have come out recently, many cases like violence, kidnapping, lynching and confiscation of property have come to light against 2 lakh Hindus.

Jewish community came together with Hindu minorities The Jewish community in America has shown solidarity with the Hindu minorities. Geeta Sangh member Surjit Chaudhary appealed to the Bangladeshi government to stop violence against Hindus and resolve political differences democratically.

Apart from this, an appeal was also made to Americans to boycott Bangladeshi clothes until the violence stops. Major companies like Walmart, H&M and Gap Inc. are also being appealed to stop shipments.

Yunus had said- reports of attacks on minorities were exaggerated Bangladesh Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus spoke to PM Modi on phone on August 17. He had said that reports of attacks on Hindus and other minorities have been exaggerated. He had invited Indian journalists to visit the country to investigate the situation and report the incident from there.

When PM Modi raised the issue of security of minorities, Yunus had said that his government is committed to the security of all citizens of the country including minorities. The situation in Bangladesh is now under control and life is returning to normal in the country.

Difference between Yunus's claims and ground reality Another Muhammad Yunus is claiming that the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh have been exaggerated, whereas the reality is that attacks on minority Hindus have continuously increased in violent protests. More than 200 cases of attacks on Hindus have been reported. Their houses and temples have been demolished and burnt.

The interim government of Bangladesh had also apologized for this in August. Retired Brigadier General Sakhawat Hussain, advisor to the Home Ministry, had said that we failed to protect the Hindu community. We apologize to the Hindu community.
