Is India behind the murder of Khalistani Hardeep Singh Nijjar? What did Canada say about the investigation


The Canadian government says that investigation is going on in the murder case of Khalistan supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The results of the investigation being conducted by law enforcement agencies are still awaited. The possible connection of this case to India is merely an allegation based on intelligence information. In fact, on September 18 last year, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had given a big statement in the House of Commons. There were allegations of a possible connection between Indian agents and the murder of Nijjar. Due to this statement the relations between the two countries turned sour.

Weldon Epp, assistant deputy minister of Indo-Pacific affairs at Global Affairs Canada, appeared before the Foreign Interference Commission on Friday. He said an investigation is underway by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. “Until the investigation is completed, all we have are allegations based on intelligence information,” Eep said. Regarding the Nijjar massacre, he said that no decision has been taken yet on the involvement of the Indian government. So waiting for the RCMP to complete their work.

4 Indians arrested in Nijjar murder case, investigation continues

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is investigating this case. In May this year, it had announced the arrest of 4 Indian citizens. They are accused of being involved in murder and conspiracy to murder. Their trial is expected to resume in mid-November. A person familiar with the investigation said, 'We hope that evidence of Indian involvement will be found in their investigation. Also, domestic investigating agencies may get some more documents. It was told by an officer that different investigations are going on regarding this matter, something can be said for sure only after the results are out.
