This conversation took place at the inauguration ceremony of the National Judicial Museum and Archives.

To know the knowledge of AI lawyer, Chief Justice asked, “Is death penalty constitutional in India?” To this the AI ​​lawyer replied, “Yes, death penalty is constitutional in India. It is reserved for the rarest of rare cases as determined by the Supreme Court where the crime is exceptionally heinous and warrants such punishment.” DY Chandrachud seemed impressed by this answer.

The future CJI was also present

During this, the next Chief Justice of the country Sanjeev Khanna was also present. He is going to take charge as the next Chief Justice on Monday. Other judges of the Supreme Court also participated in the inauguration ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Justice said that the new museum reflects the character of the Supreme Court and its importance for the country. He said that he wants the museum to become an interactive place for the younger generation.

He said, “You want young children in school and college, citizens who are not necessarily lawyers and judges, to come here and breathe the air that we breathe in the court every day, to give them an understanding of the rule of law. “Be a living experience of the importance and the work we all do as judges and lawyers.”

Chief Justice openly praised the museum

He said that the museum is not “judge-centric”. The Chief Justice further said, “It contains the clauses that we saw in the Constituent Assembly, which created the Constitution. The members of the Bar who, through their fearless advocacy, contributed to making the Court what it is today. And I am sure that we will see more here.” I request all the members of the Bar to come and visit the museum in the next week so that they can get that breath of justice. We take every day.”
