Devotees performed Kharna on Wednesday, the second day of the four-day Chhath festival. In this, after observing Nirjala fast for the whole day, the devotees worshiped in the evening and took Prasad of roti and jaggery kheer. During this, Prasad was distributed among the people around along with his family. Devotees dedicated themselves to the worship of Sun God.
Chhath festival started with 'Nahay-Khay' on Tuesday. In this, the devotees took a symbolic pledge of purity by bathing in rivers and ponds and eating vegetarian food. After Nahay-Khay, Kharna was organized on Wednesday which is an important part of Chhath festival.
The fasting people prepare for the Arghya: The fasting people will offer the first Arghya to the setting sun on Thursday. For this, there was a lot of activity in the markets of Delhi on Wednesday. Devotees bought fruits, sugarcane, coconut, earthen lamps, and other worship materials to offer Arghya. Preparations for making Thekua are also in full swing in the families.
Thekua's offerings will be offered to the Sun God as Arghya. Devotees will leave for Yamuna River, Western Yamuna Canal, ponds and other temporary ghats with their families on Thursday afternoon. There he will stand in the water and offer prayers to the setting sun.
Grand preparations for Chhath festival on the ghats
Lakhs of devotees will gather at various ghats of Delhi for Arghya on Chhath festival. Especially at the ghats of Yamuna river, on Thursday evening and Friday morning, devotees will stand in the water and offer prayers to the Sun. Apart from this, arrangements have also been made to offer Arghya in the Boat Club located at India Gate, Western Yamuna Canal, ponds and artificial reservoirs created in various colonies. Pandals have been set up at all places and decorations have been done like Diwali.
