BRAC's community-based tourism project 'Atithi' has started with the aim of highlighting the people, history, traditions, natural beauty and archaeological monuments of different regions of Bangladesh to local and foreign tourists.
One of the objectives of the project is to involve the local community in the tourism industry. ensure that the dividends of economic benefits from this sector reach them, especially the backward rural communities; At the same time connecting the urban generation to the roots.
Its official journey started last Sunday in Barendra Bhumi Rajshahi. It was attended by – Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) Abu Taher Muhammad Jaber, Executive Director of BRAC Asif Saleh, MD of BRAC Enterprises Tamara Hasan Abed, Senior Advisor of BRAC. Md. Zafaruddin and guest project consultant Moutusi Biswas.
