Leaders and workers of a group of People's Rights Council have protested the illegal granting of passport facility to the former speaker of Awami League government, Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. They say that the Awami Dosars who are working in the Passport Directorate are involved in this work. Those involved should be arrested within the next 24 hours. Otherwise the home advisor should resign.
They said these things in a human chain organized by the People's Rights Council in front of the National Press Club on Wednesday afternoon to demand the removal and trial of the Director General of Passport Directorate Major General Mohammad Nurul Anwar and Additional Director General Selina Banu.
Col (retd) Mia Moshiuzzaman, convener of a section of the People's Rights Council, said, 'Former Speaker Shireen Sharmin's photograph and fingerprints were secretly taken as part of the process of issuing her passport illegally, which is clearly illegal. Despite the fact that he is a murder accused, the Awami dosars who are killing the ghap in the government have done this illegal act. We are making it clear to the home adviser that those involved must be arrested and brought to justice within the next 24 hours. Otherwise the Home Affairs Advisor will have to resign from his post.'
Member Secretary Farooq Hasan said, 'We are deeply concerned that the friends of the fallen dictatorship are still sitting in various chairs of the student government. It is not possible to build a post-revolutionary Bangladesh by keeping them sitting on the chair. He demanded ban on Awami League and Jatiya Party.
Imamuddin, president of the People's Rights Parishad Dhaka Metropolitan South, former youth leader Mozammel Miyaji, Abu Taiyab, Tariqul Islam of PRP, Ripon of Desh Bachao Manhoob Bachao Andolan and others also spoke at the human chain.
