However, Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh, gave a glimpse of when the elections could be held. He said that the elections will be held only after the reforms in various areas of Bangladesh and the preparation of voter lists. On the other hand, General Waqar-uz-Zaman, the army chief of Bangladesh, said that the elections may be held after a year and a half. And, at this time, Yunus expressed his opinion about fighting in his election. Yunus also said that he has no chance to fight in that election.

Yunus went to New York to attend the meeting of the United Nations General Session. In his gap, he joined the 'Climate Forward' conference organized by 'New York Times'. He spoke for about 25 minutes on various topics including climate change, recent movement in Bangladesh. There, Yunus expressed his opinion about contesting in the national elections in Bangladesh.

He said, 'Do you think I am someone who can fight in the election?' The organizer of the program wants to know if he will fight in the elections in Bangladesh or not. In response to his question, 84-year-old Yunus said, “I will not stand for the vote.” Yunus also made it clear that he has no chance of contesting that election.

Incidentally, the 'mass uprising' of students started in Bangladesh in July. The movement started with the demand to cancel the quota system in government jobs. Due to that movement, Sheikh Hasina was forced to 'resign' from the post of Prime Minister. An interim government was formed in Bangladesh under the leadership of Yunus after Hasina left the country. After that, Yunus talked about reforms in various fields in Bangladesh.

On the other hand, one case after another was filed against Hasina. Yunus also spoke about Hasina's trial in that event. He said, 'If Hasina has committed a crime, she must be brought back and brought to justice. He should also face justice.' He also claimed that no action is being taken against Awami League leaders motivated by political motives.
