Adviser calls for rehabilitating the families of those killed in the uprising, providing treatment to the injured

Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam called for cooperation in rehabilitating the families of those killed in the July uprising and in treating the injured.

The adviser made this call in a separate meeting with representatives of mobile operator Robi and Grameenphone Limited in the office room of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications on Sunday (November 3).

The adviser said the interim government was going through a transition period. If the government can pass this time successfully, the country will turn around and new doors of possibilities will open. And if that is not possible then the country will go backward.

Nahid Islam said that since the movement started with the focus on employment, providing employment is the main goal of the current interim government. Prioritizing the interests and demands of the youth, the advisor called for reducing the mobile call rate and launching unlimited internet packages.

Mentioning that now is the right time to work in Bangladesh, the advisor said that since the interim government is supported by the people, the government is interested in doing anything that benefits the country and the people of the country. He also commented that the government is continuing to work to improve the telecommunication sector.

Yasir Azman, Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone said, earlier there was no environment to go to an office in the telecommunication sector to talk, but now the environment has changed. Now there is talk and feedback is also available – this bodes well for the telecommunications sector.

Rajiv Shetty, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Robi, said that in the last 15 years, various commission-based layers have been created in the telecommunication sector, as a result of which mobile operators are being deprived of profits.

The meetings ended with various discussions related to mutual interest in the development of the telecommunication sector.
