Protecting this reputation is now the biggest task. The responsibility that has fallen on you is to return democracy to Bangladesh. In other words, power should be given to the elected parliament and government through an election acceptable to all.
Mirza Fakhrul said these things in a discussion meeting at the Auditorium of the Institute of Engineers in Ramna of the capital on Sunday (November 3) evening. Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP organized this meeting on the occasion of the fifth death anniversary of undivided Dhaka City Corporation Mayor Sadek Hossain Khokar.
BNP Secretary General called on the interim government to create an environment for very quick elections in the country. At the time, he criticized the statement of an advisor saying that 'politicians are eager to go to power' without mentioning anyone's name. He said, “Politicians are eager to come to power. It is very sad. We don't expect people of this stature to say such things. We politicians do not aspire to power. We have worked to make Bangladesh free of Hasina. We have given life, we have given life, now we are working fast to establish democracy.'
Mirza Fakhrul said, 'Don't try to do something by excluding BNP again. People of Bangladesh will never accept this. A 'minus two' of depoliticization was once attempted. Never mind going down that road again.'
Addressing the party's leaders and workers, BNP Secretary General said, 'Don't do such a thing, so that someone can raise a finger and speak against the party. Don't do it, don't let it happen. Always remember.'
He said, 'It has been reported in the newspapers that 12 billion dollars are laundered every year. It is estimated that 100 billion dollars have been smuggled. Totally destroyed the economy. Most destroyed humanity. Wherever you go Awami League thieves are sitting. still sitting.'
'Bear freedom fighter Sadek Hossain Khoka had good relations not only with BNP but with all party leaders. Sadek Hossain Khoka gave the names of all the roads of Dhaka city after famous people' – said Fakhrul.
He also said, 'Sheikh Hasina was defeated by Khoka Bhai. When is defeated? When the man is chosen by the common man as his close man.'
Chairperson's advisory council member Abdus Salam, Sadek Hossain Khokar's son and BNP international affairs committee member Ishraq Hossain gave further speeches in the discussion chaired by BNP's Dhaka Metropolitan South member secretary Tanveer Ahmed. Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP convener Rafiqul Alam presided over the meeting.
