Bangladesh Association of Software and Information or BASIS is responsible for setting the policy and direction of various activities in the information technology sector of Bangladesh. The biennial election of the organization is going to be held next Wednesday (May 8). Talking to the voters on the last day of the campaign, it was understood that among the three panels in this election, they are more inclined towards Team Smart.
On this day, three panels organized different programs in three different hotels of the capital. The Team Smart panel held at Hotel Radisson Blu was packed. One Team at the Sheraton Hotel and Team Success at the Intercontinental hosted the event. Voters who visited the other two programs said that Team Smart's program had the highest number of voters.
Even here the organizers have struggled to accommodate all the voters. Voter turnout was lively despite the throngs at Team Smart's event. They strongly supported this panel.
On the last day of campaigning, many voters made it clear that they wanted Team Smart to win because of changes in BASIS, software and related sectors.
Mahbub Zaman, former president of BASIS, said on the occasion, 'All the members of this team are young and associated with the industry. I believe in the power of the youth, because of their experience with the industry I believe they will bring change to the base and contribute to the country's economy.'
Tanzil Abedin, Chief Executive Officer of Transburg Limited said, 'Our industry and various organizations are rising to new heights. We need smart leadership at this time. And Team Smart can give that leadership.'
Team Smart Panel members are making election promises keeping in mind the short-medium and long-term plans. They say, it is very important to do the work to change this information technology sector. The candidates contesting in the general category for Team Smart told about their plans.
Niaz Morshed Elit, one of the candidates of this panel said, 'We have come here not only to win, but to contribute something. If you talk about eating the house and driving away the forest moose, we are ready for that.'
Jafir Shafie Chowdhury, Managing Director of Singularity Limited, said about Niaz Morshed Elite, 'Elite Bhai has nothing to take from this sector, it has to give. Elit Bhai is not only a base leader but also a role model for the young leaders of the country. Basis will be blessed to have him as a director.'
The incoming voters say that this is a promising sector of the country. Which can surpass the garment industry. The development of that sector requires the energy of youth, which Team Smart can ensure.
BASIS will elect 11 directors for the 2024-26 term on Wednesday (May 8). Later, the president, vice-president and other positions will be appointed from among these 11 people. 8 people will be selected from General category and one each from International, Associate and Affiliate categories.
A total of 33 people from three panels are participating in this election.
