India condemns Canada for implicating Amit Shah in Sikh separatist conspiracy

Indian Union Home Minister Amit Shah's speech linking the Sikh separatist conspiracy has angered India. Delhi has claimed that all Canadian allegations against Amit Shah are unreal and baseless. On Saturday (November 2), India's External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told a weekly briefing about Canada's strongly worded letter of protest. He also claimed that a high-ranking official of the Canadian High Commission was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and handed over the protest letter. Indian media NDTV reported this news.

Randhir Jaiswal said that the protest letter stated that the allegations made by the Canadian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs David Morrison against the Union Home Minister of India are unrealistic and baseless. The Indian government strongly protested his comments.

Canada's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, David Morrison, told Canada's Parliamentary Committee on Public Safety and National Security on Tuesday that attacks and intimidation of Khalistani are being carried out in Canada at the behest of Amit Shah.

Calling its behavior a 'deliberate strategy' by Canada, Jaiswal said it was done deliberately to humiliate India in the eyes of other countries. Besides, this lie of Canada has strengthened the Indian government's long-standing perception about the political intentions and interests of the current Canadian government. He said Canada acknowledged that Morrison had reported the false allegations to the Washington Post. Jaiswal also said that such lies will have a deep negative impact on the relationship between the two countries.

Responding to a report that Canada listed India as an 'adversary' alongside China, North Korea, Russia and Iran in its national cyber threat assessment, Jaiswal said it was another example of accusations without evidence. This seems to be another ploy by Canada to attack India.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs also said that the Canadian government is conducting surveillance on Indian consular officials and this is a serious violation of diplomatic protocol. He made it clear that New Delhi views these activities as harassment and threats.

The Justin Trudeau government directly accused India of complicity in the killing of Canada-based Khalistani Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India has been denying the allegation since the beginning. And because of this, the conflict between the two countries is going on.
