Recently, a dispute with another community regarding immersion of idols during Durga Puja appeared to be worsening the communal harmony. But there is a village in Dumka, Jharkhand where there is only one Hindu family among the Muslim population and here the worship of Kali is celebrated with great pomp and show with the cooperation of the Muslim community.
In an area with a Muslim population of more than four and a half thousand, the entire village gets painted like Diwali. A fair is also organized and then the immersion is also done by these Muslims with Maa Kali riding on their shoulders.
MPs of the area are also present in this unique tradition. It is said that years ago a Muslim family used to participate in this puja. He used to perform puja but after leaving the puja midway, his health started deteriorating. Then later Maa Kali had a dream and asked to worship. Then after worshiping, the person in the family got cured and this tradition has been going on since then.
Symbol of mutual harmony and unity
Kali is considered the form of Shakti among the gods and goddesses of Hindu communities. The worship of Maa Kali takes place on Amavasya, exactly on the day of Diwali. Hindu community celebrates this festival with pomp. But Kali Puja is celebrated with the cooperation of the people of Muslim community in Dhebadih under Shikaripada block of Dumka district of Jharkhand.
This festival is not only a festival but also a symbol of mutual harmony and unity between the people of Hindu and Muslim communities. In this village, among the population of more than 4500 Muslim communities, there is only one Hindu house, who celebrates this festival with them during Diwali.
