5 demands of NCP including all local government elections within 6 months


The Jatiya Nagrik Party (NCP) has made a five-point demand, including the completion of local government elections at all levels in the country within the next six months. The party’s member secretary Akhtar Hossain raised these demands at a press conference organized at the party’s temporary central office at Rupayan Trade Center in the capital on Sunday night.

The demands are – completion of local government elections at all levels within the next six months; Not appointing administrators at upazila, municipality, union, ward level; Not being a candidate for any local elections sitting in the post of administrator; Ensuring impartial role of government, election commission and local administration; Conducting local government elections as per the reformed ordinance without party marks and nominations.

Meanwhile, in the press conference, the NCP announced candidates for the post of mayor in five out of the 12 city corporations of the country. The names of the mayoral candidates were announced by party convenor and opposition chief whip Nahid Islam.
