Economic Census 2024 is starting nationwide on December 10 for development and proper planning. The 15-day census will end on December 26. And e-commerce information is being added to it for the first time in the country. This year's economic census will have detailed information on foreign manpower.
This information was given at the final preparation notification workshop for the main census of 'Economic Census 2024' organized by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) at Agargaon on Thursday.
In the speech of the chief guest at the workshop, Secretary of Statistics and Information Management Department. Mahbub Hossain said, 'Economic census is done every ten years. We will all work together to make it a successful success.'
He further said, 'Initiatives have already been taken to conduct training and outreach activities to increase awareness about the importance of census and to assist in data collection, which will be helpful in the implementation of a successful census.'
The special guest of the workshop project director SM Shakeel Akhtar said, 'There are some rules of the government of this project, we have to implement it according to that. In the implementation of this census, 95 thousand census workers will collect data from the field. It is not possible to change any enumerators at this time.'
He also said, 'as a final preparation, training of divisional and district census coordinators, training of zonal officers at upazila and thana level and training of enumerators and round-the-clock monitoring have been taken. Apart from this, campaigns and other activities have also been completed to collect information through tabs in a modern manner.
Speaking as the special guest of the program, BBS Deputy Director General (Joint Secretary) Mohammad Obaidul Islam said, 'Through economic census, we want to show the real financial picture of the country, which will be helpful in future policy making. We have to make all efforts to implement all necessary preparations and activities for this.'
BBS Director General (Additional Secretary) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman presided over the event.
