Canada refuses to provide security to Indian camps Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Canada has refused to provide security to the Indian Consulate camps. Due to this, India has had to cancel these camps. The Indian Consulate in Toronto was scheduled to organize some camps this week.
In fact, on September 27, the Indian Consulate General had announced to organize 14 camps in different cities of Canada for pension certificates. These camps were to be held between November 2 and November 23 in Winnipeg, Brampton, Halifax and Oakville.
But now some of these camps will not be organized due to lack of security.
The Indian High Commission provides necessary facilities through Consulate camps.
What is a Consulate Camp?
In Canada, all the people who get pension from the Indian Government have to submit a life certificate. For this, camps are organized by the Indian High Commission every year in November. To help the people of cities which are far away from the High Commission, camps are organized in religious places like Gurudwaras and temples.
For the certificate, one has to give one's name to the embassy a week before the camp starts. The same camp was organized on November 3 at the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton. This temple is the largest temple in Brampton and surrounding areas. Similar camps were also set up in Surrey and Calgary.
