Six Arrested in Human Trafficking Case: The special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Hyderabad has sentenced six accused to life imprisonment in a human trafficking case of 2019. NIA investigation revealed that in this case, Bangladeshi girls were trafficked to India and were forcibly forced into prostitution.
The accused in this prostitution case have been identified as Mohammad Yusuf Khan, his wife Bithi Begum, Sojib, Ruhul Amin Dhali, Mohammad Abdul Salam and Sheela Justin. All these accused have been found guilty under various sections of IPC and Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act, 1986.
Sent to India with promise of good job
Of these accused involved in the case, Ruhul Amin Dhali was arrested from West Bengal, while other accused were arrested from Telangana between the years 2019 and 2020. NIA investigation had revealed that the accused sent Bangladeshi girls to India by promising them good jobs and higher salaries and then forcibly pushed them into prostitution.
Life imprisonment to the accused after five years
Telangana Police had registered a case at Chatrinaka police station after rescuing five girls during an operation in Hyderabad in August 2019. Initially this matter was investigated by the local police. After this, NIO took over the investigation of this case on 17 September 2019 and then filed a charge sheet against the four accused on 10 March 2020. After this, NIA filed a supplementary charge sheet against two accused in August 2020. The special NIA court, in its order dated November 6, 2024, sentenced all six accused to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 24,000.
