Addressing BNP and Jamaat, poet and thinker Farhad Mazhar said, 'Don't joke with us, the interim government is an elected government. This government is elected by blood, this government is elected by the bodies of martyrs. You want an elected government against the government that we have elected with blood. That means betraying our martyrs.'
He said these things while speaking as a guest at a discussion on Bangladesh after mass coup: political community, constitution and structure organized by Rashtrachinta, Jagannath University on Wednesday (November 6).
Farhad Mazhar said, 'Those who are maintaining the old fascist system in the name of elections are fascists. We have to convince BNP that we are not willing to give up hope on BNP. Grateful to all the leaders and workers of BNP who participated in this mass uprising. I acknowledge their contribution. Begum Khaleda Zia did not want to go for election under fascist power. The uncompromising system he created by not going to the polls made him a strong stand in the mass coup. We acknowledge his worthy contribution. I want to say to Tariq Rahman, if you love your mother, take the uncompromising stance she had against the fascist forces, the youth of Bangladesh will hold you in high regard.
Farhad Mazhar also said that the President has broken his oath because Sheikh Hasina does not have a resignation letter. After that he can no longer hold this position. The present government is not independent, this government cannot be the people's government as long as it remains under the presidency. This government should declare itself that they are the interim government.
The constitution of 72 Pakistani constitution, commented Farhad Mazhar, said, 'The most responsible for constitutionally legitimizing the fascist government. Kamal Hossain. Constitution of 72 is the constitution of Pakistan. Political rights have been taken away by this constitution. No person in the world calls himself a constitutionalist, Mr. Kamal Hossain. A new constitution must be formulated. And the new constitution will be formulated by the people, it is a democratic process. No discussion with political parties except people. We are excluding the people again. The previous constitution was not written by the people.
The chairman of the Islamic Studies Department of Jagannath University, Professor Dr. Md. Raich Uddin said, 'The constitution based on which the government took an oath will be thrown away now? So why not formed a revolutionary government? These are my personal queries. I'm afraid, I don't know what will happen.'
The discussion meeting was attended by Jagannath University English Department Associate Professor Nasir Uddin Ahmad and State Reform Movement Chief Coordinator Hasnat Qayyum.
