The 2025 IPL auction will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25. A total of 1574 cricketers have registered their names for the auction, the IPL organizing authority said in a statement. Out of this maximum 1165 Indian cricketers, 409 foreign cricketers. 13 cricketers of Bangladesh have registered to raise their names in the auction.
According to sources, Bangladesh's Taskin Ahmed, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, Tanjim Hasan Shakib, Nahid Rana, Shariful Islam, Rishad Hossain, Tawhid Hriday, Shahidul Islam, Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, Mehedi Hasan Miraj and Mostafizur Rahman.
Shakib Al Hasan, Mostafiz and Liton have played in the IPL before. If any of the remaining 10 cricketers gets a team, it will be his first IPL. All the registered cricketers except Shahidul are currently playing in different editions in the national team. 29-year-old Shahidul has experience of playing one international match for Bangladesh. Shahidul's name is therefore somewhat unknown among the Bangladeshi cricketers who were auctioned. His base price in the auction is Rs 75 lakh. The base price of most cricketers in Bangladesh is 75 lakh rupees; Mostafizur Rahman's highest base price is Rs.2 crore. Miraj, Taskin and Shakib have a base price of Rs 1 crore.
As per the rules, each franchise can build a squad of maximum 25 cricketers. In total 250 cricketers can get chance in 10 teams. Among them, 46 cricketers have retained 10 franchises since last time. Only 204 cricketers will get the team from the auction. Among the foreign cricketers, maximum 91 names have been registered from South Africa, Australia 76, England 52, New Zealand 39, West Indies 33, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka 29 each.
There are 13 cricketers from Bangladesh, 12 from the Netherlands, 10 from the United States, 4 from Canada, 1 each from the United Arab Emirates and Italy in the registration list. The 18th edition of IPL is scheduled to be held from March to May 2025.
