Posters of Chhatra Dal in DU, student protest demanding ban on student politics

On the occasion of 'National Revolution and Solidarity Day', the Chhatra Dal put up a poster with the picture of former president and founder of BNP Ziaur Rahman in the Victory Hall of Dhaka University (DU). In view of this, the students held a protest march demanding the ban of student politics in the campus.

On Wednesday (November 6), various groups of the university discussed and criticized this on the social media Facebook. Later at 9 pm, the students started gathering in the hall area (Hall Para).

At that time they gave various slogans against student politics. The procession passed through Hall Square and circumambulated Mall Square, VC Square and Raju Bhaskar-TSC.

Today's newspaper spoke to several students during the procession. They said that Chhatra League occupied the campus by filling the entire campus with posters on various issues, just like Chhatra Dal is doing. Posters have been put up at the gate of Vijay Attar Hall in such a way that it is not clear whether it is the hall or the party office. We want freedom from such occupation.'

A student named Asif said, 'The blood stain has not dried yet. Chhatra Dal has started occupying the halls. Now putting up posters, later will open hall, public room, guest room. We will not allow this to happen. We want student politics banned on campus.'

During the march and sloganeering in the hall premises, Vijay Ekatar Hall Principal Professor Sam Ali Reza tried to bring the situation under control and convince the students. At this time he said, 'I understand your situation. You (students) give a memorandum to the university administration. I will also go with you.'

Meanwhile, the hall administration has banned any kind of poster on the wall or around the Martyr Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall at night.

In order to maintain the overall beauty of the hall, no banners, festoons, posters and wall writings can be placed inside the hall or on the walls of the hall premises without the permission of the hall administration. If anyone violates this order, the authorities will take strict action as per the rules of the university and prevailing laws. Everyone's cooperation is highly desirable in this regard.
