Police said on Saturday that the accused has been identified as Mahesh Pandey, he has no gang affiliation and has confessed to his crime.
Purnia SP Karthikeya Sharma said that independent MP Pappu Yadav was receiving threats through social media platforms for the last few days. After receiving the information, the police team started investigation. This arrest is related to the number from which the first threat was received. Sharma said that Pappu Yadav had given a number to the police which was from Dubai. During the investigation, the police reached Mahesh Pandey.
The accused is not related to Lawrence Bishnoi gang
The SP further said that the arrested person has worked at many places in New Delhi and has relations with many respectable people. He has also worked in the canteen of AIIMS. His mobile and SIM have been recovered. He had taken a SIM from Dubai. His sister-in-law lives there. He had gone to Dubai and had brought this SIM from there. Preliminary investigation has not revealed any connection with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
At the same time, his acquaintance with some people of MP Pappu Yadav has also been established, which is being investigated. Pappu Yadav had claimed that he had received death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. After this he demanded to increase his security cover.
