According to a February 2024 report by the Maharashtra State Backward Classes Commission (MSBCC), Marathas constitute at least 28 per cent of the state's 13 crore population and hold more than 150 of the state's 288 assembly seats or 25 of the 48 Lok Sabha constituencies. They affect.

Manoj Jarange is the face of Maratha movement
Maratha reservation movement has been in the headlines in the state. Manoj Jarange Patil has been its face. On Monday he said, “After much deliberation, I have decided not to field any candidate in the state. The Maratha community itself will decide who to defeat and who to elect. I will not support any candidate or political party.” Nor do I have any relation with them.” He said that we were going to contest elections on 14 seats and the decision was pending on 11 seats. In this, one group is of Ajit Pawar and the other group is of Sharad Pawar. Apart from this, BJP is involved in Mahayuti while Congress is contesting elections under Mahavikas Aghadi.
