Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: Congress has released the third list of candidates for Maharashtra Assembly elections on Saturday (26 October). The party has announced the names of 16 candidates in this list. The name of Maharashtra Congress General Secretary Sachin Sawant is also included in this list. The party has made Sawant its candidate from Andheri West, but even after getting the ticket, he seems unhappy.
Speaking to ANI on being given the ticket from Andheri West constituency, Congress leader Sachin Sawant said, “I had worked in Bandra East and my desire was to get a seat from there. I had not sought a ticket from Andheri West constituency. I have humbly requested the party high command that I do not want to contest elections from Andheri West.”
I left the decision to the high command – Sachin Sawant
He said, “However, I have left this decision to the party high command and my wish is that some other worker should get this ticket from Andheri West. This is not a resentment. I am a very loyal worker of the party. Where I have worked I want to contest elections from there. I want MVA to remain strong and our primary objective is to defeat Mahayuti.”

Let us tell you that Congress has so far announced 87 candidates with the third list. If we talk about Bandra East Assembly seat, it has gone to the account of Shiv Sena UBT, a constituent of Mahavikas Aghadi. The nomination process for 288 assembly seats has started and voting will be held on November 20 and the results will be declared on November 23.
In such a situation, this week Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole said that each party of the alliance i.e. Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) will contest elections on 85-85 seats.
