Egypt signs a memorandum of understanding to renew the country program with the OECD until 2025

Arab Finance: Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, signed with Matthias Cormann, Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).The memorandum of understanding regarding the renewal of the organization’s country program in Egypt to end in 2025 instead of 2024.

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat explained that Egypt’s country program represents an integrated framework for cooperation over three years, focusing on several strategic axes that are in line with the state’s priorities. Cooperation efforts have converged with the ongoing structural reforms that Egypt is currently implementing in three main axes that will enhance the stability of the economy. Overall, improving the business environment, and supporting the green transition.

She added that the themes of the country program are integrated with the intensified efforts with development partners to implement policies and procedures that will support structural reform efforts and enhance the competitiveness of the economy, as the renewal of the memorandum of understanding contributes to completing structural reform efforts, and ensures the implementation of all recommendations and projects planned to support reforms in these pivotal areas. .

She continued that 20 national entities participate in the program’s activities and benefit from its projects, and the country program for Egypt with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development includes 35 projects according to five basic axes, namely the first axis related to comprehensive and sustainable economic growth, the second axis related to innovation and digital transformation, and the third and related axis. Governance and anti-corruption, and the fourth axis on enhancing statistics, in addition to the fifth axis on sustainable development.

Since the signing of the program, tangible results have been achieved, such as the launch of Egypt’s first economic report, which included many recommendations and measures being followed up on implementation with national authorities to support macroeconomic stability, increase the efficiency of macroeconomic policies, increase private sector participation in the economy, create decent job opportunities, and support transformation. Green.

The Artificial Intelligence Review Report was also launched, and based on its recommendations in formulating the second phase of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. In addition, Egypt has been included in the organization's digital transformation tools, supporting the development of evidence-based policies that advance the digital transformation process. Furthermore, the Green Growth Policy Review Report was launched to guide efforts towards an environmentally and socially sustainable economy.
