BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has commented that even if the president is a product of fascism, his resignation cannot create a major constitutional vacuum. Addressing the interim government, he said, 'Why are you so hesitant about the election? Tell me the date you will give for the election.'
Tinam said these things while speaking as the chief guest during the distribution of leaflets aimed at creating awareness about dengue prevention in Tezgaon of the capital on Saturday (October 26) afternoon.
Rizvi said, 'Today the issue of the President has been discussed. We all know this president is a product of fascism. But you can jump over small potholes in the road, but if the pothole is a canal, you can fall if you jump over it. So we have to work with a lot of thought so that no constitutional vacuum is created. Those who are unhappy with the downfall of Sheikh Hasina, some people inside Bangladesh and people outside will join in various conspiracies.'
He said, 'An interim government has been established through a world-shaking revolution. The responsibility of this government is to ensure a free and fair election. They need to organize that election. They will do the reforms that have been mentioned in the meantime, but in how many days will they do it?'
BNP's senior joint secretary general said, 'There is so much struggle for democracy – many mothers have lost their children, many wives have lost their husbands, it is only for democracy, for speaking and for civil liberties. So why are you so confused about the election? State the date you will give for the election. Make as many reforms as needed in between.
