Tabith Awal was elected as BAUF President by getting 123 votes. Rival Dinajpur Trinamool organizer FM Mizanur Rahman got 5 votes. Counting of votes for other posts is going on.
The election was held from 2 pm to 6 pm. This is the first time someone has won the position of president in Bafuf election by such a big margin.
Out of 133 voters, 128 voted. 5 people did not come. This has been confirmed by the Election Commission.
Chief Election Commissioner Mejbah Uddin officially announced Tabith Awal as president.
Tabith became the elected president after Ghulam Mustafa, SA Sultan and Kazi Salahuddin. Apart from this, 13 other nominated candidates occupied the post of president after independence.
During Salahuddin's tenure, Tabith was previously elected as vice-president twice in 2012 and 2016 elections as an independent. In the last election in 2020, he stood for the post of Vice President but lost to Sebar Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi by four votes.
