In the United States, the warrants against the finance adviser and the governor are suspended

Arrest warrants issued in a 2006 case against interim government finance adviser Salehuddin Ahmed and Bangladesh Bank governor Ahsan H Mansoor have been suspended in an arbitration case by US power company Smith Cogeneration.

Mushfiqul Fazal Ansari, a journalist assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a senior secretary on Saturday (October 26), announced the suspension of the warrant through his Facebook account.

Mushfiqul Fazal said in the post that Smith Cogeneration filed a case in the US court demanding compensation for the cancellation of a contract by the Awami League government in 1999. In 1997, Smith Cogeneration signed a power purchase agreement with the then government of Bangladesh and was granted permission by the government to build a barge-mounted power plant in the northern part of the country.

He also said that after nearly 25 years in this case, the Washington D.C. Circuit Court gave a decision that was largely out of jurisdiction, which was suspended by the court today. Although the matter has ended temporarily; However, this interim government formed through a bloody revolution cannot take the responsibility of the looter government. It is necessary for the Bangladesh government to take action against those involved at that time and against those who concealed the matter without bringing it to the attention of the current government.

It is to be noted that earlier, US-based media L-360 made a report about the issuance of arrest warrant by a US court against Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed and Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansoor.

Local time last Thursday, US District Judge Carl J. Nichols Smith ordered the US Marshals Service to bring the two accused to court.
