BJP Congress Clash Over Waqf Board 1500 Acre Land Claim in Karnataka

BJP Congress Clash: The farmers of Honwada village in Vijayapura district in Karnataka are in a dilemma after the Waqf Board's claim on 1,500 acres of land. The matter heated up when the farmers received a notice from the Tehsildar, in which their ancestral land was declared Waqf property. After this, a series of allegations and counter-allegations has started between BJP and Congress, where BJP called it an attack on the rights of farmers and Congress assured that the land will not be snatched.

BJP MP Tejashwi Surya and Union Minister Prahlad Joshi said that farmers are being declared their lands as Waqf property without any concrete reason and evidence. Surya alleged that state Waqf Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan directed the officials to register this land in the name of Waqf Board within 15 days. BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal has also said that he will challenge this decision of the Waqf Board in the court.

Congress's side

Meanwhile, Waqf Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan accused the BJP of politicizing the issue and said that the notice has been issued only if the land is Waqf property. He said that if the farmers have all the documents, they can fight their battle legally.

'We will do everything possible to save farmers' land'

Cabinet Minister MB Patil also met the farmers and assured them that if they have the correct land documents, their land will not be lost. This issue remains a matter of concern for the farmers of Vijaypura. Amidst the ongoing allegations and counter-allegations between the two parties, farmers say that they will take every possible step to save their ancestral land.
