A raw market for farm chickens 'eggless'


One of the big raw markets of the capital is Mirpur-1 Shah Ali raw market. Here the presence of both buyers and sellers is significant. But today on Friday weekend, this raw market has become empty of chicken eggs of the farm. No red or white eggs from farm chickens were available in any egg shop in the market. Buyers are returning empty-handed, and sellers are sitting in shops with a flurry of complaints. They are selling duck, desi and Pakistani chicken and quail eggs.

When asked, some of the sellers told the Bengali Tribune that they have stopped selling eggs after the raid and fine by the Consumer Rights Protection Department last week.

Meanwhile, buyers who came to buy eggs in the market said that fining the retailers will not help much. Must be caught in the main place. If not, retailers will suffer as well as consumers.

Why no eggs?

Egg retailers claim they are angry at not being able to sell the farm's chicken eggs. The sale of eggs has stopped because they do not get eggs from wholesalers. And wholesalers have stopped selling eggs because they cannot buy eggs at the price set by the government. In this situation, the whole market has become empty of farm chickens.

It is to be noted that two assistant directors of the Consumer Rights Protection Department's Dhaka Divisional Office Rozina Sultana and Farhana Islam Ajanta came to monitor this market in Mirpur last Friday (October 18) to keep the prices of daily necessities stable and to control the market situation. Retail egg seller Abdul Jabbar's egg shop seller was fined Tk 10,000 for not being able to show the purchase receipt. And for not buying eggs at the price set by the government, the wholesaler Rajiv Pusthi Bitan was fined 50 thousand taka.

Visiting Abdul Jabbar's egg shop today, he is selling duck and native chicken eggs. He does not have any farm chicken eggs. He said, I don't get eggs since last week. The wholesaler does not bring eggs. How do we get? They have not brought eggs since last week's raid. How do we sell? I have stopped selling farm chicken eggs for now.

Duck and cock eggs are being sold in the market

Another retail egg seller said the same thing. He said, I don't get eggs since last week. Now we only sell duck eggs. I brought eggs from Rajiv Nutrition. But they don't bring eggs, and I can't sell them either. Tejgaon kaptan bazaar search but can't find eggs. They say there are no eggs.

A retailer of egg cartons expressed anger. The seller of the shop called 'Helal Dimer Arat'. Monir said, I have stopped selling eggs. I don't like so much trouble. It is better to stop selling it. Anything is our fault. Fines us. How do we go? Are we linked to price gouging?

Said Dim House. Samiul Islam is also a retailer. He said, how do we do business, how to eat? Rajib (Rajib Pusthi Bitan) does not give us eggs. They also do not lay eggs. You can't just sell duck eggs. Chicken eggs are in high demand. No eggs since last week. The one we bring from Tenjgao or other places does not happen either. Our expenses are high. Even if you sell more, it is a problem. What do we do now?

No wholesale or retail seller is selling farm chicken eggs in Shah Ali raw market

Rajiv Pusthi Bitan, the wholesaler of eggs in this market. Most of the retailers in the market procure eggs from this trader. Last Friday, this businessman was fined by the Department of Consumer Rights Protection. Even today, Rajiv Nutrition was open. But there were no eggs.

Rana Ahmed Saddam, the seller of Rajib Pusthi Bitan, said that we have stopped selling eggs since last week. We were fined because we bought eggs at a higher price. We really bought at a high price. I also showed the purchase receipt. Yet we are fined. We can not buy at low prices, what to do now? So now I have stopped selling eggs. We brought eggs from Tangail. But eggs cannot be bought from there at government prices. So now we have stopped selling eggs.

When asked why they are not brought from Tejgaon or Kaptanbazar, he said, they do not lay eggs. They say they have fixed customers. They no longer have eggs. He talked about price control by raiding large farms outside Dhaka.

Buyers expressed disappointment in not getting eggs from the farm's chickens

Meanwhile, buyers who came to buy eggs in the market expressed disappointment. A buyer named Russell Hossain said that only raiding the retail market will not get results. The main place should be raided. Forays into the retail market add to our woes. Nothing else happens.

Another buyer, Abul Hossain, said that fining the retailers would only harm them. Actually there will be no gain. Big farms, which produce eggs, have to catch them. to be fined.
