President should resign due to moral turpitude: National Liberation Council

National Liberation Council President Badruddin Umar and Secretary Faizul Hakim called on President Sahabuddin to resign immediately for moral lapse.

In a statement sent to the media on Friday (October 25) evening, he said, “During the mass uprising of student workers on August 5, President Md. Sahabuddin said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation has been accepted. But recently in an interview given to the editor of Manabzamin newspaper, Matiur Rahman, President Sahabuddin said that he has heard but he does not have any documentary evidence in this regard. We think that the moral slippage of the President has occurred through this statement. He can no longer hold the position of president.'

“There is no talk of law during mass uprisings. What has emerged as a historical necessity will continue. “Historical necessity marches forward overriding the law.”

The two top leaders called upon all the democratic political parties that participated in the mass uprising of the students, workers and masses to immediately consider the next national parliament election, which is also the election of the Constituent Assembly or the Constituent Assembly.

They said that the interim government should announce an election period immediately, prioritizing the return of voting rights to the people and the return of power to elected representatives. More delay in the name of reforms will not be acceptable to the people.
