YS sharmila letter to disclose dispute company shares with Jagan Mohan Reddy former Andhra CM reaches court ann

Andhra Pradesh Politics: In a letter to Jagan Mohan Reddy dated September 2024, his sister YS Sharmila cited the instructions of their late father YS Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR). He wrote, “It is important to remember that our father had clearly stated that all the family properties, acquired from the family resources during his lifetime, should be divided equally among the four grandsons. You had agreed with your father at that time and had assured us that you would abide by his words, but after your father's death, you have refused to keep that promise.”

YS Sharmila wrote a letter to Jagan Mohan

YS Sharmila also emphasized in the letter that both her children can also hold rights over Sakshi Media Group, Bharti Cements and other businesses, as these properties were acquired from the family resources during the lifetime of their father. He clearly wrote, “I and my children have a claim on these properties and you cannot ignore it.”

Jagan's answer: Self-acquired property

Jagan Mohan Reddy had clarified his position by writing a letter to Sharmila in August 2024, in which he told that her father had distributed all the properties fairly during his lifetime. Jagan Mohan Reddy had said, “Our father had fairly distributed all the properties he had purchased during his lifetime. Apart from this, I have established several businesses with my own hard work and capital, which are not related to any family assets.” Jagan Mohan Reddy also said that out of love and affection for his sister, he had planned to name some properties in her name.

Jagan Mohan Reddy had also clarified that around Rs 200 crore has been given to YS Sharmila in the last decade, which was given directly or indirectly through his mother Vijayamma. He wrote, “Sharmila, I was always ready to transfer the properties to you, but due to legal hurdles it was not possible.”

Jagan reached court against sister and mother

The family dispute took a legal turn when Jagan filed a petition in the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) against his sister and mother. The case pertains to the allotment of shares in Saraswati Power and Industries Private Limited, in which Jagan and his wife YS Bharti have alleged that there were irregularities in the distribution of shares after the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2019.

Jagan Mohan Reddy claims that this property is self-acquired and is not part of the inheritance left by his father. At the same time, Sharmila and her mother Vijayamma are insisting that the property should be divided as per the father's wishes. NCLT has fixed the next hearing of this case for 8 November 2024.

Controversy increased due to political differences

The long standing political differences between brother and sister are also playing a big role in this property dispute. Sharmila formed her own party in Telangana, while Jagan heads his own party in Andhra Pradesh. This political division is now affecting family relations as well.

The dispute of the YSR family, which holds an important place in the politics of Andhra Pradesh, has now become public, which is not just a matter of property, but emotional and political aspects are also deeply involved in it. Although Jagan has tried to strengthen his position legally by taking the help of the court, Sharmila's letters citing her father's wishes to assert his right over the family property are deepening the dispute. Jagan Mohan Reddy also fears political loss due to this.
