We are happy that Chhatra League was banned: Gayeshwar Chandra Roy

The Interim Government has banned the Chhatra League, it is very adventurous. We do not object to it. BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy commented that we are happy.

He said these things at a discussion meeting titled 'What should be done by the interim government and political parties in the current context of the country' organized by an organization called 'Jagrat Bangladesh' at Maulana Mohammad Akram Khan Hall of the National Press Club on Thursday (October 24).

Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said, 'The interim government has banned the Chhatra League, it is very daring and we are happy. But what will we do if BNP is banned? Jamaat-e-Islami has hanged and tortured many people. Jamaat-e-Islami has not banned a fascist like Hasina.

He said, 'Those who killed, disappeared and tortured people in the name of various organizations are at ease. He caught them and judged them. He sets an example of the consequences of wrongdoing.'

He also said, 'So many people crossed the border, went abroad, people like Haroon went to America with whose help? Who helped them escape? Who will I ask for the answer? Who will answer this? How did those who took shelter in the cantonment get there? Who allowed the criminals to go abroad without bringing them to justice? What will the government respond to?'

A member of this standing committee of BNP said, 'People have entrusted them with the responsibility of trusting them as God. If he wants to be in power forever, then how can we disbelieve? We will see for a few days, then what we have done in the past, we will do in the future. Since we are ready to die, then no one can kill us. We do not want this government to break our faith and trust of the people.

Stating that we will give as much time as is necessary for elections, Gayeshwar said, 'We will give as much time as is necessary for elections. When that time passes, BNP will not sit at home under the leadership of Tariq Rahman to return the people's ownership. As I have struggled from the streets in the past, I will do the same in the future. We only want to form a government through the people's vote in a free, fair and impartial election.'

The president of Jagrat Bangladesh and the editor and publisher of daily Khola Kagaz newspaper. Leaders including Abdus Salam and Habibur Rahman Habib, Advisor to BNP Chairperson spoke at the discussion meeting under the chairmanship of Zahirul Islam Kalim.
