This government has managed NGOs, no experience of running the country: Alal

No one in this government has considered the tasks that should have been done after taking charge – to give priority to some, to keep some in the middle, to keep some a little distant. Adviser to BNP Chairperson Advocate Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal commented that all of them have run NGOs, none have experience in running the country.

He said these things at a discussion meeting titled 'Role of BNP on the occasion of International Disaster Mitigation Day' organized by Jatiyabatadi Prakha Dal at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of Jatiya Press Club on Sunday (October 13).

Advocate Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal said, 'Today our chief advisor spoke about Three Zero. One is zero carbon, one is poverty, another is unemployment. But carbon sequestration is what gave him the Nobel. Everyone in this government has managed NGOs, no one has experience in running the country. BNP has more experience in running the country. They needed to get experience from BNP. Then after Feni-Sylhet flood, we could do something in advance of flood in northern region.'

He said, 'Some advisers of this government woke up and became part of the government. They didn't show that kind of activity in the flood, which is very sad. Which is hard to say today. We think that the place of accountability is in BNP, we are consistently proving that.

Alal said, 'If the country is good, if I am a chowkidar-dafadar of the village, then the honor will be like that of the president. If the country is bad then the honor of the President is like a sweeper. Keeping this in mind, it would be considered in the national interest that they take the advice of those who have experience in running the country. If not, you will have to sing in sorrow – are you the same as before, or have you changed a lot.'

He said, 'Bangladesh is called Ganga Updeep from its geographical location. Geographical location of Bangladesh between the three-way location of Ganga-Yamuna-Brahmaputra. Because of this, Bangladesh has become the country of Bhati. Lateral countries India, China, Nepal, Bhutan are the upstream countries. That is why we have to fall into disaster from time to time. This calamity is more visible when the great power neighboring India dries us up on hot days and drowns us on rainy days as per their wish.'

The former president of Juba Dal said, 'Their (India's) argument is that they do it to survive. In that case you cannot make any major transactions as per international river distribution law. Till date we have not been able to share water with India fairly. Martyred President Ziaur Rahman raised the matter in the international arena. He first sought justice at the United Nations on the Farakka issue. Then India relented somewhat. Farakka was approved by late Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. At that time, it was said that the trial would run for 45 days. But Sheikh Mujibur's government was so indifferent that it did not end even in 40-45 years. The biggest victim of which is Bangladesh.

Chairman of Nationalist Propaganda Party Mahfuz Kabir Mukta, BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Joint Secretary General Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarfat Ali Sapu and others also spoke in it.
