Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has commented that Tarek Rahman is the only mastermind of the student movement.
He made this comment in the speech of the chief guest at the symbolic protest meeting organized by the Bangladesh Civil Rights Movement in front of the National Press Club on Saturday (October 12).
Dudu said, 'Tareek Rahman has done everything necessary to build an effective movement. If you have to explain it to someone, there is a little difficulty. For 16 years, Sheikh Hasina wanted to wipe out BNP. And Tariq Rahman wisely defended BNP.'
He said, 'I don't expect much from the current government, I have a small expectation. For long 15 to 20 years the people of the country cannot vote. Dr. Muhammad Yunus is a man internationally recognized for his knowledge, dignity and deeds. As long as he is not able to tell the nation when the election will be held, there will be many controversies. We do not expect and do not want the government to play a role in creating this controversy.'
This BNP leader also said, 'Nothing happens in a month. It takes 9 months to give birth to a child. If a child is to be born in a month, it is a dead child. People of this country have given blood for 16 years. For 16 years, students, workers, farmers of this country have gone missing. Served 16 years in jail. If you have taken into consideration the one month movement, it is not right. Therefore, as soon as elections are possible, it will be possible to establish democracy as soon as possible.
