The interim government should hold elections soon: Dr. Zahid Hossain

BNP Standing Committee member Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain said that the people will decide who will come to power and who will not come through the election. People will decide what kind of reforms they want. Sanskar means – all the factionalizations that have taken place must be fixed. All parties must go beyond and perform their duties impartially. That's what people want right now. That is why the interim government should hold elections at the earliest.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting and doa mahfil held at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of Jatiya Press Club on Thursday (October 24) to commemorate the 23rd death anniversary of former vice chairman of BNP and former member of parliament politician late Afsar Ahmad Siddiqui. Afsar Ahmed Siddiqui Memorial Foundation hosted the event.

Dr. Zahid Hossain said, today the country is at the crossroads of an era. A free, fair and impartial election is needed ahead. People need representatives. People are not getting their rights back since 2009. That is why the rights of the people should be returned to the people as soon as possible.

The member of this standing committee of BNP said that if you do for the people of the country, the people of the country will be with you. If you don't, you have to run away. She (Sheikh Hasina) said, don't run away from the country. But he escaped within 72 hours. Where are the people who despised the people of the country, shot people like birds and killed them today. As his father had tamed the red horse. In the same way, he also disappeared, murdered and tortured.

Recalling the memory of Advocate Afsar Ahmad Siddiqui, he said that he was a colorful person in political life. He lived an honest life. Leaders like him will not come again.

President of Afsar Ahmad Siddiqui Smriti Foundation, Begum Jahanara Siddiqui, participated in the discussion meeting, health affairs secretary of BNP. Rafiqul Islam, Education Co-Editor Helen Zereen Khan and others.
