Maharashtra Election 2024 News: Congress's Yashomati Thakur filed her nomination today (24 October) for Amravati seat in Maharashtra. Haryana's Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat was also present during the filing of nomination. Vinesh also campaigned for Yashomati and said, “I want to see more women like Tai (Yashomati Thakur) in politics.”
Vinesh Phogat said, “You people make leaders.” It was you people who made Tai win thrice. I want to see more women like Tai. When women and children have started speaking, then understand that a new revolution has started in the country. Only a woman can tell a woman something that no one else can understand.
Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat said, “The feelings, the power that God has given us, because of which sometimes a woman does not even have to tell us, we understand how much pain she is struggling with.” All of you are requested to cast one vote for Tai on the coming 20th. Don't stay at home, go to the booth. If you work to give strength and courage to a woman like Tai, it will be used only for you. That power will not go anywhere else.

Congress changed candidate from Amravati this time
Talking about Amravati, Congress has won the elections here from 1962 to 1985. BJP's Jagdish Gupta has won from here in 1990 and 1995. Congress won this seat three times in a row in 1999, 2004 and 2009. In 2014, this seat went back to BJP but in 2019, the public gave this seat to Congress. In the last elections, Sulabha Khodke of Congress had defeated Sunil Panjarao Deshmukh of BJP. This time Congress has changed its candidate from here and has given a chance to Yashomati. Yashomati Thakur is a three-time MLA. She has been representing Teosa seat since 2009.
