The interim government on Wednesday (October 23) banned Awami League's student organization Chhatra League under the Anti-Terrorism Act. The Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a notification in this regard.

10 to 15 leaders and activists of Chhatra League held a protest march at Dhanmondi number 32 on Thursday (October 24) in protest against the ban. Such a video has spread on the social media Facebook.

Eyewitnesses said that the procession passed through Dhanmondi 32 and turned around Shukrabad-Sobhanbagh intersection and ended at 32.

In that video, it can be seen that Chhatra League Vice President Mizanur Rahman Johnny, Waliul Sumon, Organizing Secretary Sajibur Rahman Sajib, Publicity Secretary Tariqul Islam Tarek, Agriculture Secretary Mohammad Hussain, Deputy Education Secretary Riazul Islam, Science Affairs Deputy Editor Zahidul Islam Zahid, participated in the procession. Deputy Public Education Secretary Mostakim Hossain Riyad, Deputy Human Rights Affairs Secretary Salim Reza and former Co-Editor Lovelu, Vice President of Dhaka University Chhatra League Tamjid Bhuiyan Megh, Suryasen is the organizing secretary of Chhatra League.

Earlier on Wednesday (October 23), a notification was issued by the Political Wing-2 of the Public Security Department of the Interim Government Ministry of Home Affairs banning the Bangladesh Chhatra League. It is said to declare the organization banned under the powers provided in sub-section (1) of Section 18 of the 'Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009' and to list the student organization called Chhatra League as a banned entity in Schedule 2 of the said Act.

In the notification, there is evidence of involvement in various public security activities including murder, torture, common room-based oppression, dormitory seat trading, tender betting, rape and sexual harassment during the post-independence period, especially in the last 15 years during the dictatorial regime, and the crimes of the leaders and activists have also been proven in some terrorist cases. is The notification mentions the killing of hundreds of innocent students and persons by armed attacks since July 15 this year and the involvement in conspiratorial, destructive and provocative activities against the state and various terrorist acts even after the fall of the Awami League government.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, the statement signed by BCL President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan was shared on verified page of Awami League on Facebook.

The statement entitled 'Rejection of conspiratorial decision against Bangladesh Chhatra League and demand resignation of illegal, unconstitutional, anti-national government' says that Bangladesh Chhatra League has a history of fighting for Bengali language, freedom, democracy, equality and human dignity for ages.
