PM Modi has visited Russia for the second time in 4 months.

Prime Minister Modi will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Russia today. There will also be bilateral talks between the two here. Both the leaders will meet after 2 years. This will be the first time after the tension in relations after the Galwan clash in 2020, that there will be bilateral talks between Modi and Jinping. This information was given by Foreign Ministry Secretary Vikram Misri on Tuesday.

Apart from this, PM Modi will attend the summit of BRICS countries today. This summit will be held in two sessions. Today there will be a session in a closed room. This is called closed plenary. There will be an open plenary this evening.

PM will also hold bilateral talks with leaders of many countries here. After completion of the summit and bilateral talks, the PM will leave for India today itself.

Earlier, Modi reached Kazan city of Russia on Tuesday to attend the summit. On reaching here, he was welcomed in the traditional Russian manner by giving him bread and salt. On reaching the hotel, he also saw the dance of Russian artists dressed in Indian attire.

Had bilateral talks with Putin and Iranian President

On Tuesday, October 22, the first day of his visit to Russia, PM Modi held bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pazhakian. First of all PM Modi met Putin. During this, both the leaders hugged each other.

Putin said, “Our relations are so good that you understand what I say without a translator.”

At the same time, Prime Minister Modi maintained India's stand on the Ukraine war. He said, “Every problem should be resolved peacefully. The Russia-Ukraine war will stop only through dialogue. India is ready to provide all help in resolving the conflict.

PM Modi will leave from Russia on 23 October. After this, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar will lead the Indian delegation in the session of BRICS plus countries on 24 October. This session will be on the theme of 'BRICS and Global South'.

A total of 28 countries and 5 international organizations will participate in this summit. After the summit, a joint statement of BRICS countries i.e. Kazan Declaration will be issued. India can also open a new Consulate in Kazan. More than a thousand Indian students live here.

BRICS summit has been held 15 times so far

The first summit of BRIC countries was held in 2009. It was organized in Russia. After this, after the joining of South Africa in 2010, its name was changed to BRICS. BRICS summit has been held 15 times so far. This time the 16th summit is being held.

Russia has hosted the BRICS summit three times so far. This will be the fourth time that Putin is chairing BRICS.
