People of Pakistan get hit by lightning, subsidy received every month from government stopped

Another bad news has emerged for the people of Pakistan struggling with inflation and financial crisis. The government of Pakistan has taken a big decision regarding electricity subsidy which will affect millions of people. According to a report in ARY News, the government has decided to withdraw electricity subsidy for people who use up to 200 units of electricity every month. After the end of government subsidy, consumers will have to pay charges ranging from Rs 9 to Rs 29 per unit from October.

While customers consuming up to 50 units will be charged Rs 9.39 per unit, those consuming 51-100 units will have to pay Rs 13.64 per unit. Consumers using 101-200 units will have to pay the highest price and will have to spend Rs 29.21 per unit.

The country's power utility, NEPRA, has also introduced a new surcharge policy for delay in bill payments. According to the report, 5 percent surcharge will be applicable on bills paid within three days of the given date, while 10 percent surcharge will be charged on payments made after this deadline.

The people of Pakistan are facing continuous increase in electricity prices. In August, electricity prices in the country were increased for the 14th time, due to which the burden on the people has increased further. In March 2024, the prices were increased simultaneously by Rs 7.06 per unit.
