Bangladesh Protest, 24-hour ultimatum for President Shahabuddin in Dhaka – bangladesh protest demands for president mohammed shahabuddin resignation

Quddus Afrad, Dhaka
The angry students of Bangladesh are on their way again. This time the target is President Mohammad Sahabuddin. On this day, they went up to Bangabhaban and gave him an ultimatum to resign within the next 24 hours. The interim government, however, said no decision has been taken to remove the president. However, experts believe that it can happen at any moment depending on the wind. A group of students got involved in the clash while breaking the barricade and entering the Bangabhaban. The police dispersed them. But the incident repeated itself at night. According to sources, two people were shot dead in the clash and one was injured by a sound grenade. Addressing the journalists in front of the Bangabhavan at around 12:00, the convenor of the anti-discrimination student movement, Hasnat Abdullah and the central coordinator, Sarjis Alam, claimed that the name of the new president of Bangladesh would be finalized within the next two to three days. They claim that the next president will be decided after discussions with all parties after the army chief returns to the country.

The unrest started around an interview of Sahabuddin himself. Recently, he claimed to the editor-in-chief of 'Manbazmin' that he has not received any documents regarding Sheikh Hasina's resignation from the post of Prime Minister! Legal advisor Asif Nazrul claimed the president's comment as a complete 'falsehood' and said, 'On the night of August 5, the president told the nation that Sheikh Hasina had resigned and he accepted it. Now he is saying that he does not have the resignation letter. It is a breach of oath. If he is adamant about his statement, then there may be a discussion on whether he can hold office at all.'

Controversy over Hasina's resignation, what did the president of Bangladesh say?

On this day, the protestors came to surround the Banga Bhavan and directly said, 'The President is a friend of Awami League and Sheikh Hasina. If he does not resign within 24 hours, we know how to remove him from the post.'

Matiur Rahman Chowdhury is the editor-in-chief of Onar Manabzamin. He claimed, 'If there is a document confirming Hasina's resignation, the government can resolve all doubts by presenting it! In my opinion, Sahabuddin did not say anything untrue.'
