An air strike on a mosque in Wad Madani, the capital of Gezira province in central Sudan, killed 31 people. A local non-governmental group gave this information. “On Sunday, warplanes bombed areas around the Sheikh al-Jeli mosque and the neighboring area of al-Imtidad after evening prayers,” the Wad Madani Resistance Committee said in a statement on Tuesday.
The committee said that 31 people were killed and many others were injured in this attack. Of these, 15 bodies were identified, while other unidentified bodies are still being identified. So far no comment has been made by any party on this incident.
It is noteworthy that after the withdrawal of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) from Wad Madani, the paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF) took control of Gezira province in December 2023.
