Arab Finance: The Emirati company EMEA Power, a subsidiary of Al Nowais Group, has completed the construction of the 500 MW Abidos solar power station in Kom Ombo, Aswan, and successfully connected it to the national electricity grid after months of operational tests.

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company will purchase the energy generated from the solar plant for a period of 25 years in accordance with the previously signed power purchase agreement.

The Emirati company recently signed purchase agreements to develop the company's projects in the field of solar energy and battery energy storage in Aswan worth $800 million, and to expand the scope of these projects, which include a 1 GW solar power plant with the first utility-scale battery storage system in Egypt with a capacity of 600 MWh. in Benban, Aswan, and adding a 300 MWh storage system to “Abidos 1,” which the company recently constructed in Kom Ombo.

The company is also working on the construction of a 500 MW wind farm in Ras Ghareb, called the Amont plant, which is scheduled to become operational in the third quarter of 2025.
