You don't need any translator, when Putin joked with PM Modi; watch video


Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin here on Tuesday, in which further strengthening of partnership between the two countries in various fields was discussed. During this time, Putin's humorous style was also seen. During the conversation, Putin said something that even PM Modi started laughing loudly. Actually Putin was referring to the strong relations between India and Russia. He said that there are such relations between the two countries which do not require any translator to understand.

Putin said in a light-hearted tone, “You don't need a translator to understand my words. We have such relations that I felt you don't need any translator.” Even PM Modi could not stop laughing after hearing this from Putin. Earlier during the meeting, both the leaders warmly welcomed each other and hugged each other. Noting the strong cooperation between India and Russia, Putin said, “We attach great importance to India-Russia cooperation, as both countries are founding members of BRICS. There is growing cooperation between our legislatures, constant dialogue between foreign ministers and trade. “We are seeing positive growth.”

In the meeting being held in Kazan, Putin said that some important decisions have to be taken to further strengthen cooperation within BRICS. The Russia-Ukraine conflict was also discussed in the meeting. Prime Minister Modi reiterated India's position for a peaceful resolution. “We are in constant contact on the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. As I said earlier, we believe that problems should be resolved peacefully,” he said. Prime Minister Modi also said that India fully supports the early return of peace and stability.

Modi held bilateral talks with Putin hours after his arrival in the Russian city of Kazan to attend the 16th BRICS summit. Congratulating Russian President Putin for the successful chairmanship of BRICS, Prime Minister Modi said that many countries now want to join this grouping.
