Reason for Taslima leaving Bangladesh… 4 points

  • Due to Taslima's writings, a fatwa was issued against her in Bangladesh in 1994. Since then Nasreen has had to face many challenges. He took refuge in India, but here too he had to change his place again and again. She first lived in Kolkata and Jaipur, then settled in Delhi under a permanent residence permit.
  • According to media reports, Taslima had gone to Bangladesh for a few days in 1998, but at that time Sheikh Hasina's government was there. Therefore he was again forced to leave the country by the Bangladeshi government.
  • Taslima also holds Sheikh Hasina's opponent Khaleda Zia responsible for this. He had said that both of them did not allow him to live in Bangladesh and promoted Islamic fundamentalists.
  • Taslima also lived in Europe for many years. Sheikh Hasina visited India during 2004-2005. Initially she was in Kolkata, West Bengal. She had said that by staying close to Bangladesh, she would continue to experience the experience of her motherland from Kolkata. However, in 2007 she moved to Jaipur and now lives in Delhi.

Taslima's 2 statements were in discussion

1. Citizenship Amendment Act described as good

Regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act, Taslima had said that Muslims, free thinkers and atheists persecuted in neighboring countries should be included in this law. This law is good because it has a provision for granting citizenship to the persecuted religious minorities in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

2. Children born through surrogacy were called readymade babies.

Taslima had shared a post on Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas becoming parents through surrogacy. He had written- Surrogacy is possible only because of poor women. Would they also have the same feeling as the birth mother?
