Reviving the issue of resignation is doubtful: Nazrul Islam Khan

Nazrul Islam Khan, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, said that it is doubtful to raise a new topic about the resignation. It is a matter of concern that why is this happening? “It is the government's responsibility to find out and act accordingly,” he said.

He said these things at a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the 47th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Labor Party at Tafazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of National Press Club on Tuesday (October 22).

Nazrul Islam Khan said, “We saw on TV that the President took the three army chiefs and said – Sheikh Hasina has resigned and he (the President) has accepted that resignation.” When the president himself stands in front of the nation with the heads of the three forces and says such things – then is there anything else to say about it? And there is nothing to say. Then I saw, the Prime Minister's son said 'mother has not resigned'. Again, we heard in a telephone conversation of Sheikh Hasina, where she (Sheikh Hasina) herself said, 'I did not resign the way I was supposed to resign.' That is, he resigned. But he didn't do it that way; So? Then there is no question of not resigning. The resignation is done. And who escapes, what does it matter whether he resigns or not. He is a fugitive.'

Nazrul Islam Khan said, the unstable condition of the country's commodity prices and the increasing growth, I think – it has become the biggest problem. It does not matter which government is in power, whether they are permanent or temporary. Their duty is to ensure the comfort of the people. So we request the government to take effective measures very soon. So that relief comes in people's lives. Commodity prices should be stable.

Commenting that 'Awami League is trying to create problems', this senior BNP leader said, I know that this government is not as strong as it should be. The administration and the police, in particular, are not able to exercise their full powers by this government. And because Awami League is not in power, their people are not in this country, they are not in business, they do not have the ability to create problems – it is wrong to say that there is. They are trying to create problems in various ways. But the responsibility of suppressing injustice is ultimately on the government. We can cooperate, but we cannot suppress injustice on behalf of the government.

He also said, this country is ours. We made this country independent by the liberation war. But the country has been taken over. Selfishness, greed for power has taken over this country. Our colleagues, our children have liberated this country. But the conspiracy did not stop. Various conspiracies are going on. We have to be careful in dealing with these conspiracies. The government should also cooperate. Because we know this government is not very strong. Attempts are being made to create chaos in various areas in the society. We have to take care of them.

BNP Standing Committee member Selima Rahman, General Secretary of Gano Forum Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, ZANIPOP Chairman Prof. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah and others also addressed the meeting under the chairmanship of Bangladesh Labor Party Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Iran.
