Now students have taken to the streets against the President of Bangladesh, why are they demanding his removal from the post?

The leader of the student group called President Shahabuddin a 'criminal' as he was illegally appointed by the 'murderer Hasina'. He said that we request him to resign immediately and vacate Banga Bhavan. Otherwise, we will start a movement like July.

Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin has now come under target of a major student organization leading the protests against Sheikh Hasina's government. This student organization demonstrated in Dhaka on Tuesday and demanded his removal from the post of the ousted Prime Minister over his comments on his resignation. In an interview with Bengali daily Manab Zamin last week, President Shahabuddin said he had no documentary evidence to prove that Sheikh Hasina had met with Pakistan before fleeing the country amid massive student-led protests in August. Had resigned from the post of Prime Minister.

Leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement that forced Hasina to step down rallied in front of the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Tuesday and demanded the resignation of Mohammad Shahabuddin. During this, protest leader Nasir Uddin Patwari said, “The President is an ally of fascism. He was in favor of genocide. We demand his resignation.” Some protesters also said that a campaign could be launched against the President.

A group of protesters under the banner of Shadhinota-Shorbobhumotto Rokkha Committee (Committee for the Defense of Independence and Sovereignty) staged a sit-in at the Dhaka University campus, demanding the resignation of Shahabuddin and the abolition of the constitution and the formation of a “revolutionary government”. Was called for. The protesters also demanded the separation of Hasina's Awami League party and its allies from political activities. Later they started marching towards Banga Bhawan, the official residence of the President.

Meanwhile, Rafiq Khan, a prominent leader of the protesting student group, called President Shahabuddin a 'criminal' because he was “illegally” appointed by the “killer Hasina”. “We request him to immediately resign and vacate Banga Bhawan. Otherwise, we will launch another agitation like the one in July,” he said. In an interview to Bangla Daily, Shahabuddin had said that he had heard that Hasina had resigned from the post of Prime Minister before fleeing Bangladesh, but he did not have any documentary evidence related to this.

The President said that he tried hard but despite many efforts he could not find any document. Shahabuddin said, “Maybe he did not have time to resign.” Let us tell you that after huge violent protests, Sheikh Hasina had fled from Dhaka to Delhi on August 5 and since then she has taken shelter here. After this, 84-year-old Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus was made the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh on 8 August.

Giving details of the August 5 incident, President Shahabuddin said that around 10:30 am, Banga Bhawan received a call from Hasina's residence and was informed that Hasina would meet him. The President said, “After hearing this, preparations started at Banga Bhawan. Within an hour, another call came saying that she was not coming. “There were reports of unrest everywhere… I spoke to my military secretary General Adil (Major General Mohammad Adil Chaudhary),” he said. Asked to see it. He also did not have any information. We waited and watched TV. There was no news anywhere. Then, I heard that she (Hasina) has left the country without informing me. I'm telling you the truth.”

Shahabuddin said, “When Army Chief General Walker came to Bangabhaban, I tried to find out whether the Prime Minister had resigned. The answer was this: They heard that he had resigned, but perhaps he didn't find time to inform us. When everything was under control, one day the Cabinet Secretary came to collect the copy of the resignation. I told him I was also looking for it.'' He said there was no point in debating on it now; Haseena is gone and it is true. (with language inputs)
