Sheikh Hasina made two calls but fled to India without submitting her resignation; Barse Bangladesh President

It has been three months since former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina left the country, but the anger in the Bangladesh government regarding her is not showing any sign of stopping. Hasina has been under asylum in India since leaving Bangladesh. The Bangladesh government has canceled his diplomatic passport and more than 100 cases are registered against him. The entire country will watch the live telecast of the court proceedings against Hasina. Meanwhile, Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin says that before leaving the country, Hasina made two calls to him, but did not submit her resignation, perhaps she did not have time. We do not have any evidence related to Hasina's resignation.

Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin gave this statement during an interview with Bengali daily Manab Zameen on Monday. The newspaper quoted Shahabuddin as saying that I have heard that Hasina had resigned from the post of PM before fleeing Bangladesh, but we have no such evidence. Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, 84, was made the chief advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh on August 8 after Hasina fled to India on August 5.

Haseena called twice

The President said that, despite several attempts, he had failed to locate any documents. Shahabuddin said, “Maybe he did not have time.” Describing the incident of August 5, he said that around 10:30 in the morning, a call was received from Hasina's residence and it was told that Hasina would meet him. The President further said, “Hearing this, preparations began. Within an hour another call came, saying she was not coming.”

Hasina, heard on TV, fled the country

He further said, “At that time there was unrest everywhere. I asked my military secretary General Adil (Major General Mohammad Adil Chaudhary) to look into it. He also had no information. We were waiting and watching TV. Was watching. Found out from TV that she (Hasina) had left the country without informing me.

Shahabuddin further said, “When the Army Chief, General Wakar came to Bangabhaban, I tried to find out whether the Prime Minister had resigned. The answer was the same – they had also heard that he had resigned but perhaps he might not have had time to inform us. When everything was now under control, one day the Cabinet Secretary came to take a copy of Hasina's resignation letter. I told him that I am also looking for it.'' He said that there is no point in debating on this now. Hasina is gone and that is the truth.
