Conspiracies against the nation are still ongoing even after the student-led mass uprising, Islami Chhatrashibir President Manjurul Islam alleged today (19 October).

“Despite the revolution of the people and students in July and August, conspiracies are still being hatched. There is an ongoing attempt to divide the nation,” the Chhatrashibir leader said at a press briefing in Dhaka’s Shegunbagicha.

Manjurul claimed that the previous “fascist” government had been involved in the enforced disappearance and murder of Chhatrashibir leaders and activists. “Additionally, the previous government had also cancelled the studentships of Chhatrashibir members.”

Mentioning Chhatrashibir’s role in national crises, he said, “The party, along with many other student organisations, has been denied the opportunity to work for students’ rights.”

The Chhatrashibir leader also called for free and fair student union elections.

“We do not want any party-affiliated activities or guest room culture on campuses. We demand that all student organisations be allowed to operate freely on campuses.

“Those who have been denied the right to operate on campuses should be given back their rights,” he added.
