bnp mounting pressure on bangladesh interim government led to hold early elections

BNP is increasing pressure on the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus for early elections. Asif Nazrul, the legal adviser of the interim government, has indicated that elections may be held there next year. It has also been reported that elections will be held only after reforming various issues in Bangladesh. But when this renovation work will be completed has not been announced. BNP criticized the interim government for this too. At the same time, they criticized the interim government for not announcing the date of election. Yunus has already held a meeting with BNP and various parties on how to proceed with this reform. He said that the vote will be held only after the completion of this reform work. But BNP said that they are unwilling to give more time to the interim government for this. Their demand is to vote quickly in Bangladesh.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said to the interim government, 'do not hesitate and make necessary reforms and arrange for quick elections.' He claimed that the government is leading the country to a deadlock without announcing the date of the election. Along with this, Rizvi said, 'The elected government will be accountable to the people. Whatever power comes, the power of the people should be returned to the people.'

He also criticized the government for not setting a specific time frame for reforms. Rizvi said, 'The interim government is talking about reforms. But everyone is giving a different statement about when the elections will be held. No specific date is being given for when the renovation will take place.' With this, he said to Yunus, 'If the specific date of the election is not announced, people will have questions about you. We urge you to make the necessary reforms and hold early elections.'

It is to be noted that Asif said in a private television channel program on Saturday that it is possible to hold elections next year. But before that several things have to be done apart from forming the Election Commission. He said, 'Even if these works are done, it is possible to hold elections in the next year.'
