He said this in his Facebook post in an explanation about the election on Saturday (October 19).
Asif Nazrul wrote, “In a recent TV discussion, I said that elections may be possible within the next year, but there are many factors in this case. I did not get a chance to fully explain these factors there. But everyone will understand from the words of our government that elections are about reforms and political compromise. These are the factors.
He said, I have also spoken about reforms in the event. Some other factors I have explained in the programme, such as: formation of search committee and election commission, preparation of voter list etc. If these factors are right, the election may be held next year. That said, this is also my initial guess. These conditional assumptions and assumptions are presented by some media outlets as election announcements. Honestly, this is not correct.
Asif Nazrul also said that elections are very important policy decisions. Its timing will be fixed under the leadership of the chief adviser to the government. He alone has the authority to declare it.
