CJI DY Chandrachud Reveals He Prayed to God for Solution in Ram Janmabhoomi Babri Masjid Case


CJI DY Chandrachud on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid Case: Chief Justice of the country D.Y. Chandrachud said on Sunday (October 20) that he had prayed to God for the resolution of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute and said that if there is faith, God finds a way. He was addressing the residents of his native village Kanhersar in Khed taluka.

He said, “Often cases come to us (for decision), but we are not able to reach a solution. Something similar had happened during Ayodhya (Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute) too, which was in front of me for three months. “I sat before God and told him he had to find a solution.”

'God will find a way'

The Chief Justice (CJI) said, “Believe me, if you have faith, God will always find a way.” On November 9, 2019, a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by the then Chief Justice of the country Ranjan Gogoi had settled the contentious issue which was more than a century old, paving the way for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The bench had also ruled that the mosque would be built on an alternative five-acre plot in Ayodhya itself. Justice Chandrachud was part of the bench that delivered the historic verdict. The Chief Justice had visited the Ram temple in Ayodhya in July this year and offered prayers. Ram Mandir The consecration ceremony was held on 22 January this year in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

CJI DY Chandrachud is retiring

CJI Chandrachud is scheduled to retire on November 11, 2024, after a tenure of two years. After his retirement, Justice Sanjiv Khanna will take over as the next Chief Justice of India.
